Rupert Grint was eleven years old when he was cast as Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Born in Essex, England in 1988, Grint had experience acting in school plays and at the local theater, but no prior on screen appearances. Based on the most popular book series of all time, the first Harry Potter film was, of course, a smash, and the series went on to encompass eight films.
